Prayer - the backbone of evangelism
We dare not move forward with advancing the gospel without all activities being saturated in prayer and intercession. We are totally dependent upon God for His anointing in ministry, and for His mighty power to transform lives, as we take the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ to the lost.
For every healing that takes place, every deliverance from demonic torment, every salvation, every church plant, we need the Holy Spirit to show up to do what we are unable to do apart from Him. This dependence drives us to our knees, and by God's grace, keeps us there.
The Word of God says in Ephesians 6:18-20 "praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints - and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak." And in Acts 4:29-31, "Now Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak your Word, by stretching out your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus. And when they prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the Word of God with boldness." It then says that with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and that great grace was upon them all. This great power and great grace was active in a context of fervent prayer.
